Our new Very Baby One Size Fitted Diaper Pattern allows you to sew a fitted diaper that will adjust to fit most babies 12 pounds to 35+ pounds.
One diaper = Three sizes: Small, medium, and large.
You can adjust the rise using the size snaps.
Pattern includes instructions for serging/overlocking the edges or for turning & topstitching with a conventional sewing machine.
Yardage Requirements
Attention! Fabrics made with natural fibers (cotton, bamboo, hemp, cotton/poly blends) must be pre-shrunk! Wash on hot and dry on hot prior to cutting and sewing. The amounts given below are for ONE COMPLETE diaper. It is more economical to cut several diapers at once from a large amount of fabric. Due to variations in fabric types and widths, it's impossible to give comprehensive yardage amounts. Experimenting with layout is highly recommended to get the most from the fabric chosen. However, be aware of grainlines and follow them strictly to ensure the best fit.
Absorbent Fabric (including soaker pads, doubler)
60” Wide Fabric: 5/8 Yard
Fashion Fabric (outer layer)
45” - 60” Wide: 5/8 yard
Elastic - 1/4” polybraid elastic. 5/8 yard.
Snaps - Size 16 or 20 plastic or long prong metal snaps:
* 20 socket sets (20 sockets, 20 caps -- if using metal snaps, all 20 caps can be open rings)
* 10 stud sets (10 studs, 10 caps -- if using metal snaps, 4 caps can be open rings)
